The birth of the tradition of making our rakiya "Taurus" began back in 1863, when Rade Vasov Nišavić became a priest and started distilling his first rakiya from grapes and apples in northern Montenegro, which made the Nišavić family well-known.
After a brief pause in production, following World War II and the departure of our grandfather, Krsto Nisavic, a pilot in the Royal Yugoslav Air Force who left for London with King Peter Karađorđević and joined the British Royal Air Force, his son, and our father, Rayko Nišavić, decided to continue the family tradition.
He did so at the end of the last century, when he moved to Mount Kosmaj, where he purchased land and built a small family distillery.
In the meantime, we expanded and modernized the distillery, and today, it houses our production facility.
From the very beginning of rakiya production on Kosmaj, we have been working with Zoran Bogdanović, one of the best distillers in Serbia, responsible for creating the high-quality distillate that we further refine by combining various elements such as barrels, harvest years, and blending, with the aim of producing a product of exceptional quality, which we stand behind with full confidence.
The rakiya we previously produced was exclusively gifted to business partners, friends, and family, who believed that the product we create should be shared with you as well. Our doors are now open to you.
Welcome to Taurus!
